The cycle of communication begins with the sender, who sends the message to the receiver. Throughout the process, noise exists, which may interfere with the process. It can interfere in terms of actual noise or a barrier to communication. Sometimes people will receive a message and it can be interpreted in different ways.

I visited the Cooper Hewitt museum where various artists portrayed words through interactive art, using the 5 senses. There was a sensory exhibit featuring sounds that represented salty, sour, bitter, and sweet. They had different pitches for each type of food. One of the art pieces had 4 wooden spheres hanging from the ceiling that when you placed your head between them, they emitted a vibration to evoke a sense of relaxation. Additionally, there was an interactive piece that allowed you to listen to sounds through headphones that corresponded to words being displayed in front of you. Also, there was a fur wall, that when you passed your hands through it, music played. As you went up and down and side to side, different pitches of music would play, like a piano. Communication can be portrayed in many different ways. The artists’ used the 5 senses to communicate their message to their viewers.
